| Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to develop students’ awareness and appreciation of their mother tongue in accordance with the ever-advancing conditions of the age. The course seeks to teach the correct, clear, and effective use of language, which is essential in all areas of life and professional fields, to enable students to express themselves clearly and effectively, and to raise awareness of the historical development of the Turkish language and literature. In this respect, the course contributes to supporting quality education (SDG 4), developing professional communication and employability skills (SDG 8), and fostering individuals who can communicate consciously and effectively (SDG 16). |
| Course Content: | This course examines the concept of language, the relationship between language–society–culture, and the place of Turkish among world languages. The historical development of the Turkish language and the alphabets used in its writing are analyzed, and current language issues are discussed. Word and sentence structure in Turkish are covered; root and suffix structures, word types, and sentence elements are explained. Spelling rules and punctuation marks are addressed through practical applications to enable students to use Turkish correctly and effectively. |

| 3) | WORLD LANGUAGES AND LANGUAGE TYPES | It is recommended to be able to make a general classification of language families and language types. |
| 4) | HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE TURKISH LANGUAGE | It is recommended to identify the key points in the historical development process of the Turkish language. |
| 5) | MAIN ALPHABETS USED BY TURKS | It is recommended to examine the reasons why Turkish has been written using different alphabets and to review the alphabets used. |
| 6) | THE PRESENT STATE OF THE TURKISH LANGUAGE | It is recommended to analyze the current state of the Turkish language through examples and to examine the Sun Language Theory. |
| 7) | CONTEMPORARY ISSUES OF THE TURKISH LANGUAGE | It is recommended to identify the main problems encountered in the use of Turkish through examples from daily life. |
