| Course Objectives: |
The aim of this course is to develop students’ awareness and appreciation of their mother tongue in accordance with the ever-advancing conditions of the age. The course seeks to teach the correct, clear, and effective use of language, which is essential in all areas of life and professional fields, to enable students to express themselves clearly and effectively, and to raise awareness of the historical development of the Turkish language and literature. In this respect, the course contributes to supporting quality education (SDG 4), developing professional communication and employability skills (SDG 8), and fostering individuals who can communicate consciously and effectively (SDG 16). |
| Course Content: |
This course aims to develop written and oral expression skills, to ensure the correct and effective use of Turkish, and to introduce the main periods and genres of Turkish literature. Within the scope of the course, expression disorders, composition writing techniques, official and intellectual writing types, and the principles of academic writing are covered. In addition, the major periods of Turkish literature and the fundamental characteristics of genres such as poetry, short story, novel, drama, epic, folktale, travel writing, and memoir are examined. By emphasizing oral composition and communication skills, the course aims to enable students to use Turkish correctly, clearly, and effectively. |

HISTORY OF TURKISH LITERATURE |
It is recommended to examine examples illustrating the relationship between literature and society and to read about the general development of Turkish literature from the Tanzimat period to the Republican period. |

POETRY |
It is recommended to examine the definition and main characteristics of poetry and to review the general features of Turkish poetic traditions. |

SHORT STORY AND NOVEL |
It is recommended to review the general characteristics of short stories and novels and to identify the main differences between these two genres. |

THEATRE |
It is recommended to examine the concept of theatre and its types and to review the forms of traditional Turkish theatre. |

EPIC - FOLKTALE – TRAVEL WRITING – MEMOIR |
It is recommended to evaluate the definitions of epic, folktale, travel writing, and memoir, and to examine the narrative characteristics of these genres. |

ORAL COMPOSITION |
It is recommended to examine the concepts of oral expression and communication and to consider the role of correct and effective use of Turkish in communication. |

FINAL EXAM |
