Course Objectives: | The aim of this course, offered over two semesters, is to enable students to distinguish between 'normal' and 'abnormal' behaviors and mental processes; to discern the similarities and differences between contemporary paradigms/theoretical approaches that explain the causes of 'abnormal' behaviors and mental processes; and to acquire knowledge of how clinically 'abnormal' behaviors and mental processes are defined/classified according to the most recent classification systems (e.g., DSM-5), how they are measured and assessed, and the factors that may contribute to these behaviors/processes. |
Course Content: | This course; Introduction: What is normal? Where does psychopathology begin?, Current Paradigms in Psychopathology, Diagnosis and Evaluation, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive and Trauma-Related Disorders, Mood Disorders: Unipolar Depression, Mood Disorders: Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Dissociative Disorders, Personality Disorders, Eating Disorders, Sexual and Sexual Disorders It covers Substance Use Disorders, Childhood Psychopathologies, Advanced Age and Neurocognitive Disorders include topics. |
